Derek’s presentation offered a candid, behind-the-scenes look at the construction of the new main stand. In a talk that was both insightful and engaging, he shared his personal experiences about the construction from the project’s inception to completion, including the challenges of fitting out the Tynecastle Park Hotel. Derek didn’t shy away from expressing his frustrations, particularly with the design team, who came under sharp criticism. His deep passion for Hearts and the project was clear throughout, and the roles of the various individuals involved was very revealing. By the end of the presentation, it was unmistakable that, despite the hurdles faced—whether time constraints or other challenges—the final result is something to be truly proud of, even with its (few) imperfections.
